On Thursday, January 5th 2016 the Toronto Raptors were once again proud to honor the brave men and women who represent Toronto's Fire Services. Fire Chief Matthew Pegg, and over 50 active and volunteer fire fighters were in attendance cheering on the Raptors and getting in on the action.
Holiday Fire Safety Ambassadors, Cory Joseph and DeMar DeRozan, presented Fire chief Pegg with a custom made Toronto Fire Services jersey. In return the Fire Chief gifted the two players a personalized Toronto Fire Services Capitan's helmet for their role in bringing fire safety awareness over the holidays.
As the National Anthems sounded, Toronto Fire Services Honour Guard members, Jayson Gil and Randy Smith, presented our country's flag while the entire Air Canada Center stood at attention.
As the Raptors trailed at Half-time, better news came with the Citizen Community MVP Award. Tamara Sylvan was the recipient of this month's award and has been a member of the Toronto Fire Services Team for over 17 years.
The night was filled with honour and pride and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Toronto's First Responders.
